Sarva Shilp
The rhythmic chirrups of birds on the windowsill, singing attune to the breeze moving past the tall, wildflowers of the meadows that sway in uniformity and the burbling splash of water hitting the ground from the rocks above, every harmonic activity taking place around us is an art itself. Nature, in itself, is a magnum opus of the Cosmos. Sarva Shilp identifies itself with this omnipresent art.
Sarva is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘All in all’. Shilpa is an Indian feminine term, meaning ‘work of art’. Sarva Shilp believes that art is all-pervasive and it embodies this feeling in its creations. Every piece of clothing is a craft, painted with emotions that run close to the feelings of home, like the days when our little fingers would grab the edges of our Amma’s dupatta only to wrap around our heads in it, and form our own safe homes to stay out of sight from the cruel dreams that haunted us. It is this tranquillity of homeliness that inspires our brand to communicate a form of art that people associate with.
We believe that each design has a story and it is better expressed by the people who wear it. The craftsmanship of Sarva Shilp is a careful dexterity of hands that adds a personalized element to our collections. Apart from being handcrafted, our collections have also been greatly influenced by the Madhubani Art, a traditional Indian artform of Bihar. Hand painted, the artform is very close to nature in its representation. Ethnicity of our culture has been deeply embedded in our hand-crafted designs. We aim to stay close to Nature in every possible way as we believe that the best healer in this chaotic lifestyle is Mother Earth. The very first drop of rain that falls on the hilltop. The sound of crickets chirping in the middle of the night. Facing the wind as your hair starts frolicking behind your neck. All of our worries melt away as we find comfort in the arms of Nature. Sarva Shilpa believes that sustainability is the key to keeping us closer to Mother Earth. The fabrics used by us reflect the same qualities of acceptance and comfort. The colours are closely associated with the peace and tranquillity we receive from Mother Nature, thus incorporating whites and pastels into our designs. Like the summer mornings when the sky seems whiter with soft clouds covering it like a blanket or when the sky paints itself with pastel hues in daylight, after the rain. Produce on order is a belief that we stick to in order to stay in compliance with sustainability and avoid any harm to the environment, thus also continuing to provide you with the best quality of art!
